Luminox – F-22™ & F-35™ Flight Calculation/Chronographs

Through their stealth looks and aircraft-inspired details, the watches of Luminox’s AIR series pay tribute to some of the most remarkable strategic aircraft in aviation history—models like the groundbreaking, supersonic SR-71 Blackbird™ and the sophisticated F-117 Nighthawk™ attack aircraft. Now two new Luminox timepieces, created under official and exclusive worldwide license with Lockheed Martin®, introduce flight-inspired slide rule bezels into the Luminox collection.

Like the fifth-generation stealth fighter jets they are named for, the F-22 Raptor™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph and the F-35 Lightning II™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph are amazing pieces of machinery. Each watch features a bidirectional rotating bezel with a black aluminum slide rule ring and a dial ring with tachymetric scale. When used in conjunction with the chronograph, the tachymeter indicates rates of speed – in kilometers, miles, or nautical miles per hour. The slide rule bezel can be used to calculate distances, flight times and fuel consumption.

With the added functionality provided by their slide rule bezels, these watches are certain to become Essential Gear for those who need the ability to make quick calculations on the go—or vital aviation calculations when survival depends on it.

The F-22 Raptor™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph
The 44mm diameter F-22 Raptor™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph is built of solid blackened titanium, a material that is both strong and light. A 13-jewel Ronda quartz movement supports a roster of useful functions. The 1/10-second chronograph times events of up to 12 hours with 1/10-of-a-second precision. It is controlled by lever-style blackened titanium start/stop and reset pushers. Chronograph times are displayed via a central seconds hand, concentric minutes and hours totalizers in a subdial at 9 o’clock, and a 1/10-second subdial at 6 o’clock. Added to this is an easy-to-read big date display and day of the week indication. The dial is surrounded by the tachymeter and slide rule bezel. An antireflective sapphire crystal covers the dial. The caseback depicts the F-22 Raptor™ aircraft. The watch comes on either a solid link titanium bracelet or a leather strap with red contrast stripe detail.

The F-35 Lightning II™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph
The all-new 45mm F-35 Lightning II™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph premieres in 316L stainless steel and is likewise powered by a precise and reliable 13-jewel Ronda quartz movement. The watch’s black textured dial features bright orange hands and dial elements. Its 1/10-second chronograph is like that of the F-22 Raptor™ watch, with central seconds hand and concentric minutes and hours totalizer at 9 o’clock. Its standout feature, however, is its 1/10-second indication, which takes the form of a semicircular counter with bicolor propeller hand that reads against a two-color scale at the bottom of the dial just above the big date display. A sapphire crystal with antireflective coating protects the dial, and the caseback depicts the F-35 Lightning II™ aircraft and the Lockheed Martin® logo. The timepiece is attached to a solid link steel bracelet with signature Luminox buckle or black padded leather strap with orange contrast stitching and signature Luminox buckle.

Both watches are water-resistant to 200 meters and feature Luminox Light Technology, a proprietary system of self-powered micro gas tubes, mounted on the hands and markers of the watches, that glow continuously for up to 25 years, so that the dial can always be read, even in low-light conditions. Like all Luminox watches, the F-22 Raptor™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph and the F-35 Lightning II™ Flight Calculation/Chronograph are Swiss Made.
